Blacklight Coffee Backstory:

Blacklight Coffee was started simply because Kazuhiro (the owner) did not find good single origin coffee to meet his palate. He found out that available coffee was either blended, over roasted or from countries everyone knows.

Kazuhiro never stops exploring and addingnew beans because he believes his customers' lives are enriched by finding their favorite coffees. Kazuhiro wants to help you find that favorite coffee and keep roasting and serve that fresh coffee for you.

Taste: 8.2/10

The first sip is a blend of the peach and grapefruit. The sweetness of the peach is slowly overtaken by the tart and bitterness of the grapefruit. The bitterness lingers a bit, but not in a bad way, more like a light hoppy IPA. The bitterness is then rounded out by a strong pomelo finish, begging you to take another sip.

Aroma: 7.4/10

The aroma of the grinds is like cutting into a grapefruit. Strong, with hints of the tartness that is to come. After brewing, the aroma becomes much softer, and you can really smell the peach upon your first sip, which leads perfectly into its taste.

Value: 10/10

Honestly, it’s going to be hard to find a better value than this. For $1.5/oz at the 8oz price or $1.25/oz at the 16, you are getting unbeatable flavor per dollar. Black Light has been my daily drinker for a long time and one of the inspirations for this review site. Prior to Black Light I used to spend around $18 per bag for my daily coffee to make sure I had something tasty, to find a $12 bag that stands up to the $18 or even $20 bags is pretty incredible.
